摘要:

自适应比特率流媒体(ABR)因为能够自动适应用户网络和回放条件的变化,已经成为当今主流的流媒体技术之一。但是,如今的互联网一直流行HLS,HSS,HDS和MPEG-DASH等多种ABR技术,
为了能够同时服务这些格式,ABR服务器不得不为每种客户端建立一个独立的副本,这极大地浪费了存储和带宽。为了解决这个问题,本文设计一个针对ABR视频流的适时封装机制。通过该机制,服务器
只需存贮一个通用格式就能够实时按需地将通用格式转换成最终客户的具体格式,增加了服务器自适应的灵活性,节省了服务器和网络环节的存储和带宽成本。

Abstract:

The adaptive bit rate streaming is one of todays video streaming technologies and has attracted a wide spread attention since its media server can
automatically adapts to any change in each users network and playback conditions. There are a few different adaptive bit rate videos streaming technologies including HLS, HSS,
HDS, and MPEG-DASH over the Internet. These variations require video streaming to serve a wide variety of end-clients and to make a separate copy for each end-client type which
negatively impacts storage and bandwidth usage. In this paper, we put forward a Just-in-time Encapsulation (JITE) mechanism to overcome it. With JITE, only a single common
format representation of contents is stored and cached by the server. Upon each client request, the server will re-encapsulate the common format representation into end client
specific format to save storage and bandwidth.
