Abstract: In this paper, we introduce the design process of the simulation system of a traffic signal timing scheme, which uses MapX to establish GIS simulation interface, and is programmed by the C# language in Visual Studio 2010. By discussing in detail the function of each module of the system, the key technologies and principles to design and realize these modules, we realize a simulation environment which would provide a fully interactive interface to users, and it also realizes the simulation to the user timing plans, and feedbacks the evaluation parameters to the users. Experiments show that this system, in a certain extent, can make a realistic and objective simulation according to the user intention, and can provide a more accurate assessment, which demonstrates the effectiveness of this system.
